ACT INTEGRATED SYSTEMS (ACT-ISD) is committed to improving the indoor environment of government and commercial buildings, hospitals, and laboratory facilities. We specialize in the design and fabrication of premium grade Custom Air Handling units and high efficiency air filtration systems for the removal of general air borne contaminants as well as toxic chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) contaminants. ACT-ISD offers an extensive line of custom factory-built air handling units, field-built air handling units, Enhanced Filtration units, and other high efficiency fan-powered air purification systems.
ACT-ISD began working with the US Army Corp of Engineers (USACOE) in 2000 to develop a new generation of chemical, biological and radiological (CBR) air handling systems. These special systems were named Enhanced Filtration Units (EFU) and they would be utilized to remove CBR contaminants from the outside air stream, properly condition the air and provide pressurization of building spaces for the protection of building occupants. The USACOE specifications for these new generation air handling systems required performance levels that were not typically available by most AHU manufacturers. Portions of the unit casings had to withstand up to 20” wg pressure with zero leakage to ensure proper contaminant containment. Completed systems had to pass a specialized “pressure decay test” to validate casing integrity. Special CBR filter vessels had to be properly integrated within each air handling unit. The USACOE commissioning and factory and field testing requirements are some of the most demanding in existence and unattainable for most AHU manufacturers.
Today ACT-ISD is proud to be the leading manufacturer of these specialized CBR air handling units. ACT-ISD has manufactured and installed hundreds of specialized CBR air handling systems for the US Government and the USACOE.
In addition to the specialized CBR air handling units, ACT-ISD also manufactures custom air handling units for many other applications including, but not limited to, the health care industry, gun range facilities, colleges and universities, and the host and hotel industry.
